Silk Screen Prints

It was not until I studied at the CoFA, College of Fine Arts in Sydney, Australia that I fell in love with Silk Screen Printing. I still go the old fashion route, hand drawing my designs and transferring the designs onto transparency paper. Then I find some silk screen frames, emulsion, a light box, and a squeegee or two near by and get to work. After the discovery of this art form, I immediately I started printing onto clothes. My first masterpiece being a Canadian Suit with naked women in various abstract shapes and sizes all over the denim two piece.

Since then I mostly print onto denim, tee shirts, and little silk slip dresses, hence the name of my Instagram handle @ssweetassilk a little play on silk screen prints and my love for a little silk slip. SweetAsSilk emphasizes the organic shapes found in nature, the gentle curves of the human body, and the fierce features in the faces of all beings. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Initially, the clothing is thrifted, making each piece its own treasure, and then uniquely designed with my drawings, which are then printed with silk-screen frames.

A day I will remember forever was seeing my designs walk down a runway in Denver with the Ginchi Artist Empire Collection in November 2019. Surreal. Currently my pieces are sold in various shops on the East and West Coast
